My skull had a tongue in it, and could sing once ...

My skull had a tongue in it, and could sing once ...

A Poem by Jeremy Baker

Alas, poor life! I lived once, Horatio, a life

of infinite potential, of most excellent affection:

it has borne me to a thousand places and back;

and now, how wasted in my recollection it is! My mind

pukes at it. Here hang these lips that were kissed so oft -

where be my wit now? my puns? my flashes of existence

that were to set the world in an uproar? Not one now

to deprecate my own self? quite use-fallen?

Now get me to my death’s own chamber, and tell her,

let me be buried many inches thick, to this fool’s errand

I have come; and you may all laugh at that …

PS: My apologies, Bill, but hell - you had it coming!

Oh you wicked, wicked man! Shakespeare would probably find this bit of satire amusing! "Quite use-fallen" indeed! Thanks for the smiles!

I like your poetry. Using hero's of the past to make your point. I love the myths and old literature. We can learn many things from the old writer's.

The story behind this should be very interesting, i think, as is the poem itself. Intelligently intense~
