A Beach in Ceylon

A Beach in Ceylon

A Poem by JohnL
"

I know, I know - It's Sri Lanka. Well it wasn't when I was there!

"

A Beach in Ceylon – Yes! Ceylon – it was a long time ago

Sitting
Beneath a palm tree; tropic shore,
Rippling waves, warming sun, peace:
My contentment!
Why leave?

Who would want to leave that place? whatever they wish to call it!
Beautiful imagery and well penned!

Why leave indeed... but maybe, having left, the memory's stronger, deeper than it might have been had you stayed and stayed.

Thank you for sharing this wistful, nostligic brief poem - it truly 'speaks'.

PS. The avatar is Nerja anyway - I hadn't got Ceylon in colour. As I said, it was along time ago!
