A poem to quell frustration

Longing

 

To hear her voice 

To hear her laugh

To see her smile

To touch her skin

To watch her sleep

To watch her wake

A longing that cannot be filled

An ache that cannot be dulled

A burning that cannot be extinguished

With youth comes abandonment

With youth comes irrational decisions

With age comes responsibilities

With age comes practical decisions

I long for her

She longs for me

But because of responsibilities

We will never be
