What a Darkness We Do Make

Sometimes love is actually lust staring out from a dark tunnel.

You know, baby... I'm amazed at the love we give and the love we break.

I'm inspired by the way you ruin my heart, and mend it back together for more.

I'm in awe of your bitter, soulless eyes piercing me. I love you, but what for?

It's funny when I think about it -- what a darkness we do make!

 

You know, dearest angel... I worship you more than your dark void could ever take.

I gaze at you with plutonium dreams hinged high upon the winter of my discontent.

I know we share "a love that is more than love," or so you said in a whistful comment.

It's crazy when I think about it -- what a darkness we do make!

 

You know, love of my life... I find comfort in you, never placing "us" at stake.

The hunger in every fiber of your being craves my touch, making me quake at your lust.

The way you use me, I just know it's love; but then you brush me off like so much dust.

It's overrated when I think about it -- what a darkness we do make!

The title drew me in, it's quite clever and suave.
I like the repetition in this poem, it helps with the flow and overall 'smoothness' of the write.
This reminds me a bit of Poe.

I see a little Shakespeare in here, I'm not sure if you meant it:
"I gaze at you with plutonium dreams hinged high upon the winter of my discontent."

Either way, it adds to the overall appeal of the poem.
It was one of my favorite lines.

Isn't it funny/strange how we get ourselves into volatile relationships that take so much out of us, aren't healthy for us, yet, we let them drain us until there's almost nothing left?
This poem spoke to me- what I liked most about it is that you have a sense of humor about the situation, almost as if to say, "Heh!"

Your language is great and the imagery is wonderful. It is easy to picture these two people who create such a hateful love and such a loveful hate. The story itself is not a usual one, so it was definatly great to read. The cold heartedness of this woman is so interesting as is the reasons for the man's continuous love of her. I really love the last line of the poem. It really brings it all to a close and it doesn't feel like anything has been left unsaid or incomplete.
