Monique’s P.O.V

“Monnie, are you going to watch the TV with your old man tonight?” Dad called to me from down the hall, he was in the kitchen cooking us some dinner ever since he moved here he’s been trying out his nonexistent kitchen skills.

“Depends what’s on” I yelled back at him, i did not want to watch TV with my father unless it was something worth it, especially if I could be doing a million other things.

It’s been exactly 22 hours since the wrong number caller incident and I still can’t get that voice out of my mind. You would think that something as dumb as that would have been lost in that bug head of mine by now, but unfortunately it hadn’t.

I could smell the pleasant aroma of dad’s stir fry entering my nostrils, that’s pretty much the only thing he can cook, but it sure did taste good.

My heart skipped a beat, as the familiar ringing of the home phone startles me. I tried to listen in to what dad was saying, but I was too far away to hear anything.

A knock on my bedroom door caused me to jump off my bed to answer it.

“Yes dad?” I asked him

“It’s for you, dinners ready by the way, help yourself when you’re ready.” He handed me the phone before leaving me alone.

“Hello?” I spoke into the receiver.

“Monique? It’s me Liam, I accidently called you the other night.”

“Hi, I remember you,” I wonder if he could tell I was smiling.

“Are you Australian? No wait New Zealand right?” he asked me

“You are good with your accents, I moved here from New Zealand.”

“How could I forget an accent like that?”

“So...you rang again.”

“Yeah, I hope that’s alright with you?” he questions me, unsure of whether I was pleased that he had called or not.

“Yeah of course it is did you end up finding Michael?” I laughed.

“No unfortunately not, to be honest with you, when your dad answered the phone, I thought I had misdialled again” he started to laugh, and so did I.

We were on the phone for almost two hours, we talked about alot of things before he had to go, something about his roommate being hungry? I don’t know, on the bright side he gave me his mobile number!

So now I can text him whenever I want.

Life in England just suddenly became so much better.

After I had finished my stir fry, I had a shower and for the first time in years, I sang in the shower, and it felt great! Ever since Mum died, I gave up singing. This was the first time I have ever felt the need to sing in a very long time.

When drying my hair in my room, my phone started to vibrate on my bedside table.

One New Message

So I opened the message.

From: Liam

Hey J Just had some dinner, how was yours?

Excitedly I hit reply.

To: Liam.

Hi! Mine was really good.
What you up to now?

From: Liam

Just got home, getting comfy on the lounge, ready to watch a film.

You should join me ha ha

To: Liam

Sounds tempting! What are you watching?

From: Liam

21 Jump Street.

To Liam:

Oh Channing Tatum! ;)

From: Liam

Not you too! My sisters are obsessed

To: Liam

What can I say? He’s Hot,

From: Liam

I wouldn’t know, I don’t check out Men.

We kept texting until 3 in the morning, I found out alot about Liam, and what can I say? I really am falling for this guy. Let’s just hope he doesn’t turn out to be a creeper. I don’t even know what he looks like yet.
