S**t Grins And Baby Puke

S**t Grins And Baby Puke

A Poem by Jaiven

We had a cart pusher
where I worked
every day
rain
sun
snow
sometimes worse
he pushed those
dang carts
one right after the other
in a monotonous
routine
every time I saw him
cleaning up baby s**t
or taking care of trash
and cleaning the restrooms
he had a great big f*****g grin
on his face
he knew real poetry
he was living it

... since you asked for it ... constructive criticism that is ... i understand the social comment part ... i comprehend your sensitivity as a poet ... and this verse is immensely well-written ... but it lost its balance ... in this line ... "he knew real poetry" ... agreed his life is tough and he's smiling his way through it ... but i felt that the respect you intended to give him did not get conveyed ... i remember this film ... a hollywood production where a street smart lawyer is called to help a rich guy who's run away after causing an accident ... and the rich guy says ... "i thought you were a miracle worker" ... to the lawyer ... and the lawyer responds with ... "i'm a janitor" ... those lines did so much justice to the words and the janitor ... and were so cutting edge and apt ... in your verse ... the guy was the only one who gave himself any sense of poetic justice ... but that didn't come through ... i could be off the mark though ... do skip this comment if i am ...

I don't know. Poetry in cleaning up baby s**t and taking care of the trash. That is one job I have done in my life. Wasn't too much poetry in the job. I like the poem. Made me laugh.
