For you (Lost at sea)

For you (Lost at sea)

A Poem by Jake Staffeld
"

I got the idea for this while listening to "Into the ocean" by Blue October.

"

You were my boat

I kept steady on you

Before I slipped and fell

Into the churning waves

They swallowed me

I wallowed in the misery

All alone, lost at sea

Or so I told myself

Forgetting how to swim

I felt much to thin

To keep on fighting

The weights dragging me down

Then you appeared again

Oh so far away

Inspiring a struggling

I kept my heart beating

For you

As I swam away

I never could catch up to you

But at last I hit the ground

Run afoul

But I was alive

I'll remain this way

Even if I never find you again

I'll always remember what I've overcome

For you

Very touching and sincere. I love the imagery of water in this poem. Excellent job, Jake! Definitely a favorite.

This was good. I enjoyed it even though it was a sad piece.
