Melancholy

Melancholy

A Poem by James McFadyen

How I feel sick
From that sweet taste
That is melancholy-
Melancholy. How such a word
sounds so temptingly tasteful
like Cantaloupe or Honeydew
That it spills from my lips with
Juicy wet sibilance.

Oh how I oft' yearn
To bite into its flesh
So that it drips with
Pensivity
So that I may whet my want
of nostalgic nectar
So that I may devour
Such bitter sweet fruits
Which leaves remnants of a rind
Hollow, spaceless shells.
That is melancholy.

James your poetry is sublime. Your use of phrases and metaphors and words is way beyond your age.
