Holidays

A Poem by James Wells

It was winter and he went to school.
Candy canes adorned the halls.
And children called for Santa.
It was spring and she went to school.
Flower petals spread out on the ground.
And the Easter Bunny brought candy.
It was autumn and he roamed about.
Masks and bags littered the streets.
And the feast began, tummy aching.
Winter faded into the later years.
The schools stopped decorating.
And children became teenagers.
Storms came to announce the summer.
Then a drought dried up all her hopes.
And the fireworks burnt down the church.
The coldness came as it often will.
But this time it sank itself to his heart.
And he lit another cigarette.
His parents came to wish him well.
But he neglected that precious time.
And his children would do the same.
She walked through rubble on this day.
Searching through the wreckage.
And a soul she'd save, but not her own.
The chills would fade, but not within.
The world for him was full of dark.
And it swallowed up his meaning.
He sat alone in an empty house.
A lone candy cane stood smiling.
He knew Santa would not arrive.
She sat alone in an empty house.
Her flowers were old and dry.
She knew Easter brought no salvation.
He sat alone on an empty street.
His candy loaded into needles.
He knew that this feast was killer.

I'm just looking to keep people entertained. It's important to me that I do as much as I can to give hope to the hopeless. We need it the most. But I also do say some comedic things occasionally, b.. more..
