Sink or Swim...

With life comes trials and tribulations
decisions and choices,

Riffled at us at mach speeds as it sometimes
seems,

As we sit floating in the vast ocean of life
holding our breath to stay afloat,

These trials and tribulations, decisions and choices
continue to title wave themselves toward us like
an out of control typhoon,

Never seeming to ease up as the massive
waves violently crash and crush our lives
like a great white taking a bite out of it's prey,

As the unforgiving lives we live seem to be
swaying with the current we must come to
the simple conclusion,

Sink or Swim,

So much easier said then done
but a conclusion I'm positive all of us have
had to come too in our lives,

Some days I think to myself why continue to
hold my breath and for what,

And other days I think I could not and
will not ever give up my struggle to keep my head
above the water,

As the current pushes and pulls me in any which
direction it chooses, I try to control my thoughts
knowing I have no control of life's crazy and out of
control current,

But today I choose to swim
and today I will pray that tomorrow I will not sink...

Jamestown
Life can be Sink or Swim situations sometimes,
I feel as if I'm going through some difficult current lately,
but God is good and I will swim to shore:)

You are most welcome...:)...............
Very uplifting and inspirational. Sometime in life, you gotta make solid choices, especially if it's concerning your future and you're getting older. Excellent poem my man!

Very moving piece really shows how you are feeling at the moment. The repeating of "sink or swim" gives a good structure to the poem, one I haven't seen before. Very good write, well done.

your poem is about as real as it gets .. life does bring the sink or swim syndrome ..for me no matter how long it lasted or how desperate i felt ... i would somehow endure ..and it would roll around again ... and again ..not always the same situations ..but always my brink of desperation ... until i stopped thrashing around wildly, stopped using my swim power, stopped crying, rolled over ... and simply relaxed ... deep breaths to float on ... that wide expanse of God ;) hang in brother ... enjoyed reading your poem ... the honesty and vulnerability speak volumes!
