Seed of hate

Seed of hate

A Poem by Ben Ashelford

Reflection, reflection.
What do you see?.
Weakness and dirt.
Shame upon thee.

Mirror, mirror.
Eyes and stares.
Guilt and horror.
Beyond despair.

Who's there?
Not I, anymore.
Washed but still unclean.
Defiled!

Doctor, doctor.
I beg of thee.
remove my pain.
And memory.

Father, Father.
You married me.
the kingdom awaits?
Once, perhaps.

Devil, devil.
Why?, why?, WHY?!.
here i now lay.
Empty, defeated.

Child, child.
That lives in me.
blameless seed.
of atrocity.

A well versed piece that paints a vivid image pain and self-loathing may erupt from what we perceive.

I sense your meaning within myself; Well done!

Brilliant. I can see myself as the one gazing into the mirror and seeing a person whom for years I have grown to loathe but now consider a mutual partner in life. That might not make much sense but this poem makes all the sense to me.
