You wait and you wonder

You wait and you wonder

A Poem by JanieB

You wait and you wonder

You wait and you wonder, will they ever come home?

They left to fight for our country

They went in battle unknowing

Not knowing the real dangers ahead

Young soldiers fresh out of college

All excited and enthusiastic

Desperate to defend for us all

Innocent young men are they

The sights they see

The innocent, the young and the old

How is this affecting them all?

It will take time to find out

The destruction, the despair, the bloodiness, and the pain

Bring back our brothers ,fathers, husbands and sons

Home safe to their waiting loved ones

Who have waited and wondered everyday they are gone.

I find your writing to be simple and very to the point. I like that. This is another great example of that. :)

This is a exellent poem , thank you for sharing!
One thing though.. when you have the word 'collage' it seems a bit off.. maybe if you changed it to something that fit the topic better it would be more smooth..

My two brothers fought in the war long ago..they had flashbacks for years and it humbled them as they were proud to serve their country and by the Grace of God..They made it home saafe while many of their friends did not..VALENTINE

This is like a red rag to a bull for me, They dont fight for their country, they fight for the men in white shirts that hold the power, peace will never come from a gun. In God we trust! what a joke, not in God but the size of your bloody guns, I'm sorry and do apologise, but i hate warfare and all those who participate in them.

This is very heartfelt and tender. We have to keep in mind that most of our soldiers wanted to fight the war, thank God we do not have the draft. Yes, so fresh and so young; they see no job opportunities here and they chose not to starve but to fight; to fight to protect us as we go to bed sleep safe at night; they fight for us to be safe because everyone is dying to come to this country ~ what other country has the freedoms to express this way? They are fighting for the women and children that are oppressed in other countries....
