Blood & Steel

Blood & Steel

A Poem by Vera

Rage and fury screaming through the air.

Cries of glory and of anguish.

Steel flashing.

Blood dripping.

Torches illuminating the grisly scene.

The invaders have won.

Now leaving with their hoard.

The buildings gone.

Replaced with darkness.

The oars push away with vigor and vim.

Shouts for Valhalla ring through the air.

The image is stark, the shouting audible. I can even hear the oars.

Great job on this poem.

Short, precise and potent, your poem gracefully flows to conjure up a vivid mindscape of the fascinating mythological scenes. I like it!
