Catastrophe

Catastrophe

A Poem by JMumford

Like a catastrophe, we live in fear

Believing in everything we see and hear

Poison words and actions are plenty

Rich on paper but hearts are empty

Blinded by the lights, got the masses captivated

Ignorance has reached new heights, whole generation devastated

Living life in competition

When will we begin to listen?

We accept this fate, like we cannot change it

Generations filled with hate, strange isn’t it?

How it’s the youth that tends to suffer for our behaviour

Going around in circles, searching for a saviour

History repeating its cycles like it’s a natural movement

Deceiving out instincts, for their own amusements

Right and wrong, it’s pretty simple being real

We’ve known all along how to think and how to feel

Not to be fooled by false pretences, but to be honest and true

It’s time to awaken our senses, treating others how they treat you?

Eventually everyone will learn and see

That love conquers all, it will set us free.

I agree with you. The media rarely tell the truth. Love does conquer all. We must lead with concern, kindness and we must listen. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your worthwhile thoughts.

Excellent. I have tried to find ways if capturing the current state of things into poetry and have struggled with it.
