Antares

Antares

A Poem by J

This is my world

of flightless sleep

conjoined harmonies

and the stale air
of a room

wallowing

in the darkness
of my youth.

*

These memories are candles, tapered
and unlit, stars and yet more stars

beacons to grasp
between my fingertips.

*

I hold you to a promise you gave five years ago.
I demand you give me an ocean harbour to look upon:

slow-rolling waves of lapis lazuli, a phosphorescent
midnight glow, a collision of flesh and conversation

and why we could be a tiny flame
encompassing the eternal.
