Shut Down

Shut Down

A Poem by Jeremiah Medina

You shut us down.
We'll build us up.
We'll still be proud.
Enough is enough.
We're a rough crowd.
So hard to please.
Just do your job.
Who voted you in?
You've chose to quit.
We'll find someone else.
As the clock ticks.
Is time running out?
How hard is it?
Count dollars and cents.
Get the math right.
Why can't the house win?
They bicker like kids.
We sit and wait.
A shudder to think.
They hold our fates.
Lives in your hands.
Just do what's right.
Get over yourselves.
Put your ego's aside.
All could be lost.
If you can't agree.
What is the cost...
Of keeping us free?
