Mind Over Matter

Mind Over Matter

A Poem by Jazmin-Monae
"

Written 9/8/12

"

To hear your echo call
through the baron
halls, tattered and torn
with frayed memories
of love once found
now lost to those
who wish for
it most.

I see you there
reaching out
holding on to
nothing,
as if the past
never happened.

The need to breathe,
and the will to live
fading with
fatigue.

Mind over matter
is what you used to say,
the question that
now haunts my mind,
Did you ever
really matter?
