Understanding the gleam

Understanding the gleam

A Poem by Joseph Pleasants

Wake me by the seas
love me by the threes
Feel me by the ton

Want me til I'm done.
Where life left it's loving latency of function
We seek combustion from outside ourselves.
waiting
wading
for something real to happen.
Waiting for a star that fell.
Instead of reaching for yourself.

Reaching for that realness of a real tip
A clue that leads you to the scoop.
That stumbles you down the trail to solving the case.

Dish with he and her.
Sing til your hearts consent.
Long astray are those that understand the beauty of silence.
We speak not to be heard but to believe that we can.
We stare at violence.
Violent is our stare.

We love not to connect, but to love that we found love.
We hate not to understand, but we fail to understand that we hate.

You
can
change
chains
can
be broken by the upbeat usurpers that feel the need to fly freely.
be loosened by falling in line and ignoring the signs.

If we can just fix ourselves from fixing ourselves
realizing that we were created perfect
Just. the. way. you. were. meant. to. be.
