Walls and Bridges

Walls and Bridges

A Poem by Jeff
"

Inspired by John Lennon. 30 years today you were taken from us, May you rest in peace and thank you for the music.

"

We put up Walls

To keep the hurt out

And the pain within

We build Bridges

To cross the gap

To feel a connection

Inside our Walls

We rave and rant

About our emotions

Our Bridges

Designed to connect us

Sometimes tear us apart

Within our Walls

We tear the world down

And build ourselves up

Crossing the Bridge

We smile and wave

Passing one another in the night

The Walls

Keep us safe

From human interaction

The Bridges

Keep us alive

By connecting our souls

The world is filled

With Walls and Bridges

How many do you have?

- oh what a stellar dedication this is - intense and soulful - just like serah said - and what a unique comment on how we live - poetry becomes magical when it looks inward from the outside - and still - retains its touch of the poet - just what you've achieved here - brilliant and inspiring!! - and mr lennon would be proud to read this - i'm sure - he wasn't one to mince words - and boy do you say it like it is!!! - RIP john lennon!! -

i never thought about this, but you're so right about the walls and bridges...and even if ones don't exclude the others, people tend to become very fond of just one version...the first stanza is quite a brilliant start - "to keep the hurt out/ and the pain within".

Wow. two different emotional stages, emotional ladders i would say. I hope to have a million bridges and maybe a couple of walls. Great concept. Simple but very poetic, very creative verse. GREAT job Jeff..

Everyone has more walls than bridges am sure.Suddenly the world is so much brimmed with mistrust that it is easier to build walls than bridges..well expressed.
