PLEA TO THE WIND

PLEA TO THE WIND

A Poem by Geo Lawrence
"

He is to die in anothet's stead. His love, far far away, his sad fate, unbeknownst to her. The wind seems to be his only ally as he speaks to the him

"
O! wind so gentle
As thou passeth my cell so lonely
I prithee, I prithee
Carry on thy wings so light
My whispers of love so sweet
My last words for her
From my prison cell so lonely
Across the Caribbean seas so vast,
To her ears so keen
****
****
O! wind so gentle,
As my death is nigh,I bid u to tell her thus
The radiant beauty of thy face
Shall eclipse any streak of gloom on my face.
Thy smile shall sooth my weeping soul
Thy river of tears, shall carry forth my soul,
Safely to the realm beyond.
O! wind so gentle, I prithee, I prithee
To fly forth to her,
With these words of mine on thy wings.
****
****
O! wind so gentle
The jury heed not, to my pleas so futile
The judge hath unjustly condemned me,
I bow my head in shame and in tears
Tell her thus
Weep not for me
For though I die in shame,
I die with a spirit so happy
I die, knowing a damsel had loved me.
Though my foes gloat,
at my miserable misfortune,
Though I die, taking another's place,
I die without a pinch of regret
****
****
O! wind so gentle
Alas! For in my happiness,
Images of her weeping face,
Strikes a club of nostalgia
so painful in my heart.
The spiky-head pricking me,
calling to mind,my loss so great
Ah! I wail in knowledge of this,
ah! Julia, my love, my life
Had I the power of a god,
I would turn back time's hand
And cause us ne'r to cross paths
I would make you...Ne'r to be born in my time
Ah! Julia, even in sadness
Thy beauty so radiant dispels my gloom
****
****
O! wind so gentle
As thou passeth my cell so lonely
I prithee, I prithee
carry on thy wings so light
My whispers of love so sweet,
my last words for her
From my prison cell so lonely,
across the Caribbean seas so vast,
To her ears so keen

I really liked this one! The tone reminded me of a certain poet, but I can't remember their name... Maybe Lord Byron??? Anyways, I thoroughly enjoyed it, keep up the good work!

Thank you for reading. I'm glad you found it interesting. I look foward to going through your works
Beautiful love poem, also full of sadness. It's almost a new Romeo monologue to Julia.
