Platinum Skies

Platinum Skies

A Poem by Jennie Baron

My mood is as flat as the platinum skies

Of this overcast March day.

But it’s merely flat, not sad.

Only momentarily uninspired.

I laugh at myself;

What colors did I expect, chartreuse and fuchsia?

It’s restful, meditative.

Already traces of green dot the brown grass

Outside my window

And tiny, fragile buds on the trees

Hint at the spring soon to come

And so I’m hopeful and expectant.

You've painted quite a beautiful landscape with your words! The imagery is lovely. A well written ode to nature. Lydi**

You're welcome. :)
This is written beautifully, with such clarity that I must read to understand but am able to understand easily through your word choice. Poems inspired by nature are definitely my favorite. Wonderful, especially the first line, just beautiful!

You words and your reading are much appreciated!
Always a silver lining to every dark cloud, (or mood,) Autumn of course is now with us, but Spring is the most precious of seasons.

Lovely and optimistically uplifting lines. Already I can see those first precious greens shoots.

Beccy.

I really liked your reference of "platinum skies"...much better than saying gray. Good work, Jennie...I like "Train", too! ; )

What a fine words expressed so beautifully!
It is very much important to put hope or optimism in such pieces. It leaves reader with the better outlook that they can see beyond negativity.

You get exactly what this is all about!
Perfect. As expressed by these fine words, you have a solid, steady kind of outlook on the world. I, too, have learned to endure the blasé while trying not to beat myself up and biding time till those colors come again.

I like the picture you paint here, I could see this same scene out my window, but around these parts it is more likely in April than in March : )
Simply, yet eloquently stated, well done Jennie.

I like this. It is beautiful. I figured with all the writing you read of mine I would come play catch up. Get ready for a binge. This is the thing I do, pick a reader and devour their work like potato chips.

I feel like this too often. You did a great job of showing this feeling that can be hard to put to words.
