Anxiety

Anxiety

A Poem by Jenna Kay

There's a hummingbird inside my rib cage
And it's dying
And I can't decide if I want it to keep drinking the red sugar of my blood
Or let it starve and wither away beside my bones
For I fear I may be lonely without it
For I fear I may be empty

This is amazing! I love the metaphor of the hummingbird as anxiety. The imagery works perfectly!

The decisions your afraid to make are the ones that hummingbird strives for.

just a wonderful piece...even in their happiest state, hummingbirds are always moving at breakneck pace...like many humans, afraid to slow down long enough to feel anything inside...
