Love

So much sorrow, so much sadness
But love doesn't care, for love is kindness
Just as air, seaps into every crack
So will love, find a way back to your heart






So much betrayal, so much pain
Don't take lust for love, for lust is vain
The difference you might not see, from the very start
But do not worry, love shall come back to your heart






It's inevitable, for the heart thinks for itself
You might try to hide your feelings, bottle it up on a shelf
But you can't stop it, how you respond to that one
And that's how you'll know, that love has already won






"Love leads to misery" That's one thing you might believe
But to be alive, is quite different from to live
You call it strength, hiding behind a mighty wall
But that is weakness, and one day that wall shall fall






Now love is knocking, knocking on your door
It waits it's patient, doesn't mind sleeping on the floor
Waiting till the day, you'll finally be ready
Just don't take too long, and your life shall become steady






Happiness shall be your's, it shall wipe away all your tears
Only gain, no more loss, you shall say good bye to your fears
And you shall always remember, the day when love you met
No matter where it may now be, alive or in death.

The way you've written it, I completely understand this gracefully beckoning message. It's hard to see people locked within themselves, closing off anymore pain. Your words are gentle but urging, not taking this situation as a final outcome, wanting love to prevail, as we all do. Very good job of poetic structure, while conveying a message that resonates with all of us.

It is a very hard thing to find, Love.
She is always well hidden, lurking in the shadows, to spring out occasionally and startle our hearts.

Love does bring great joy and happiness to those she touches, but also pain and misery when she departs.
Do we embrace her? Or turn our back on her? I guess that is the choice of the individual.
A nice poem, Jerry. A couple of lines where the rhyme was a bit awkward, but still a very thoughtful write.

The end of stanza one and the end of the first half of stanza 4, also the last two lines do not rhyme. No big deal. Just pointing it out.

lol Now that isn't awkward. I write the way it comes to me, I do not stretch to find words. Maybe when I'm bored and can't find anything to do, then I'll make those lines "rhyme" lol thanks anyway, for the observation.

I believe love changes. I'm a old man now. I have Grandchildren now. I was taught love is what we have near.

Nice one! I really like that you pointed out that love isn't lust. I completely agree. (actually, I would probably go even further and claim that love does not really exist - I see in it a mere connection of desire and compassion, which justifies the desire....)
