Soft skin

Soft skin

A Poem by Jessi Leigh

Your skin is soft and flexible,
your face and body talk without words
every moment a new adventure
every feeling a new experience
Oh sweet child you feel so fully!
In your world there is always enough time and a spring ever-flowing with questions;
Your eyes see only with love.
Your restlessness due to not enough expansion.

How you strive for the impossible,
find  extra in the ordinary...
All fears all inadequacies are overcome and followed with squeals of laughter or celebrated with a gentle sigh and a hug.

I am old and hardened from self betrayal
Mundane autonomy
no feelings shown unless it's something extraordinary. Yet I have lost sight of what this means.
Immobilised from the risk of loss
silenced

I long to find the child within.

Don't we all..."long to find the child within"... and our children allow that to happen...
The blank slate we all begin with... if only the adults didn't take that away
I can actually see you over a crib saying those words to your own and how you gently fast forwarded to our glorious youth...and cascaded to the depths of despair (adulthood)...
Life...as does this write...happens oh so quickly with so little time to catch our breath. I loved this on every level...
great write Jessi
I remain a child at heart....and always will

Thank you so much for all your beautiful reviews, I have only seen them for the first time now. Interesting that we long to be children again, but who's to stop us from having moments where we let our inner child free?

Only you can do this. Touching me as deeply as your words dance. It is beautifully written, and the knowledge and experience we talked about lately I see through your interesting write. Again sister, deep Namaste.

The last line, left me thinking of a desperate reach for innocence. Something we only find in childhood. Very interesting and cool flow.
