Association Problems

I have some association problems.

Sometimes I’m not really sure that I can solve ‘em.

It’s like I discriminate w/o thinking.

And I can feel my sense of empathy sinking

I associate snob w/rich.

Then being arrogant w/b***h.

And then there’s ignorant w/jit.

And of the any toddler w/a fit.

Yes I can feel my sense of empathy sinking

When one can walk past the homeless w/o blinking

And sit in a class while complaining about your past

When in freedom people only wish that they could grasp

I associate 1st world problems w/liberty

Living in the past w/are you kidding me

Walking past the homeless w/where’s your sympathy?

And doing all these things w/are you truly me?

With your freedom that others wish they could grasp

Surely, you are done living in the past

It’s been two years; there’s no changing it

Please grow up and stop throwing a fit

But..

I associate cruelty w/being human

So I associate humanity w/cruelty, right?

You could live in this world and give it your all

But there will be no one to save you from the fall

Your pride.

Just some food for thought. I was just "in my head" while writing this. The italicized words are italicized for a reason. They demonstrate the vague and lack of depth in those thoughts. They were the simple things that I associated things with. Petty, even. Could've been turned into something infinitely deeper, but... How it is can be regarded as finished, but not complete.

I really enjoyed this, the 'textspeak' really demanded that I pay attention to it, and the message was really strong. I especially liked the line 'I associate 1st world problems w/ liberty' that one especially spoke to me because I have thought that before! We wouldn't complain about certain things if we didn't have such liberty... almost like we just need something to complain about

It is a rap, or so it seems to me. I'm not into rap normally but this is a good one. I like your take on cruelty and humanity. Animals aren't cruel. They kill to eat. They wound to escape. They rape to breed. Only humans can master cruelty.
