Animal Cruelty

You left me there to die,
And I just want to know, why?
Was it because I was a stray?
Or because I was just in the way.

I have to ask, why I was beat.
Was it because I was just on the street?
Does it make you feel better now that I’m gone?
Or did you feel nothing and just move on.

I wont forget what you did to me.
And I hope you remember every plea.
I hope my cries haunt your mind.
I hope you remember the day I went blind.

The day you took my life away,
My body lifeless, my eyes dim and gray.
I just wanted to find someone to love,
But I guess, I’ll just be waiting up above.

Author's Note

I was asked to write a poem/prayer type thing by a friend on dA. She had found a site on the genocide of animal cruelty and decided to make a site about helping them and what not. So I said I'd help her out and she asked me to write something, so this is what I came up with. If you'd like to see the site of the genocide, just message me. Same thing goes for her site. Enjoy.

this made me cry :( as a supporter of the aspca this hit me hard. you did a great job capturing how the animal feels. it would be nice if everyone understood that they have feelings and feel pain just like us. they deserve the best. great job :)
