The Diner

The Diner

A Poem by John F Carver

I will tell you about Christ

you may want to punch

or yell or put me down

or hurt my feelings

making out that

I am stupid"

it's what you are.

I was like that too

I thought I loved God

but hated Christians

so I talked behind

their backs and they knew

they always sense it

like everyone else

God tells them.

It is better to endure

the wrongs of others

when you've done well

if they don't like the food

it's their right not to

congratulate the Chef

but not to feel like

killing the waitress.

even before Jesus came

messengers were killed

for bringing bad news

and still there were

messengers and prophets.

Jesus endured sins of others

they put him to death

with their sins

but they were ashamed

those that knew God

those who grew to

like the entire menu

it was the only way

to reach the diners

in the restaurant

God made

with the good news.

If you want a lot of faith ask God to put the spirit of your flesh into a deep dreamless sleep until your body dies that only he can wake it from like I did. It is a good idea if you find you are not .. more..
