Can You Keep A Secret ?????

Can You Keep A Secret ?????

A Poem by John Phoenix Hutchinson.
"

A secret recipe to wealth!

"

Can You Keep A Secret.

The Modus Operandi of the Alchemists of Old.

Is a secret I will tell you, SWEAR IN BLOOD it won't be told!

The way to riches you will master, I will take you on the path.

Turning lead into gold, you will be master of the craft.

O heed to me, my apprentice I will tell you only once!

The Universal method, the arcane way, to wealth enhanced

The seven wandering stars, that are naked to the eye.

The different stages of the metal, the varied colours of the dye.

Saturn's heavy lead, to Mercury, Quicksilver you become.

Tin's metamorphosis miracle, from God Jupiter's heart plum.

Trusty Iron, loves vision Venus, red copper to the core.

Shining silver moon, with weighty gravity you war.

The five elements congeal, the Zodiacal process of the Sun's.

The Philosophers Stone lies before you, the secrets almost won!

The Unicorns pure crimson blood, transmuted in Phoenix flame.

Mixed with a Ravens claw and a flowing noble lions mane.

More colours than a peacocks feather, burst into clear blue sky.

The mixture is quite potent now, let not the cauldron fires die.

Now plunge your heart into the brew, if ever you be so bold.

Wait for the kiss of Fortuna's Luck, Gold!.....Gold!!.....GOLD!!!

Very very very very very very very very very very VERY amazing!!!! Valde prodigious!!!! Muy impresionante!!! 很惊人!!!! Zeer verbazingwekkend!!!! Très étonnant!!!!! An-iontach!!!!! Ajabu Sana!!!! rhyfeddol iawn!!!!

Man, I hope I didn't just cuss in a foreign language. That'd be super duper embarrassing :P

I just couldn't find a way to say how very very amazing this is using only English!! And it's all your fault. Shame on you for being such a spectacular writer that I'm left wordless for a few moments after I read one of your poems. Eternal shame.....

I really really love how you described all the different metals in the second stanza. It was beautiful in a metallic way; it all fit together flawlessly. And then in the last part where you actually gave the recipe ...awesome. I'm so jealous of how easily you're able to rhyme! It's not fair! Grrrrrr >:( I honestly feel like throwing a gigantic muffin at you right now, that's how angry I am. Sadly, my shrink says I've gotta start keeping my anger in check and blah blah blah....

ANYWAYS!!!!!

Way to go on this one! You always write such incredible things that I've never really given much thought to and then I read your poems and I'm like "Holy cow!!!! This is so interesting!!! Why haven't I heard more about this??!!! Why isn't there a whole class being taught just on this subject??!!! Why do I only have ten toes???? What's wrong with our scholastic system these days!!!????"

By the way, I completely agree with lothlorienwriter....QUITE BEING SO ANNOYINGLY GREAT AT WRITING!!!!! Do the impossible for once and write something so horrible that everyone dies...and do it fast because I've got a Chemistry test on Thursday that I'd rather not take.

Meanwhile, I'll be in my kitchen, baking a giant muffin. Mwahahahah ;)

Did you intend to write 'Alchemist's of Old'? I enjoyed reading this, though I can't pretend to know enough to interpret. I am curious what the fifth element is / was though? Inspired write, I enjoyed reading it. :)

Nice one Mark
cool fantasy poem. I knew a friend who ran a methamphetamine lab. He called himself "the Alchemist" lol, always wanted to write a poem about that but it seemed so dirty. This was fun to read.

Cheers and Ha! :)
When reading this I first thought, "What?" and then slowly I developed an understanding of what you have written. By the end of it it makes me feel happy and satisfied that I have read this piece. It was interesting, incredible and incredibly unique. It gives you imagery not usually possible by poems.

Nice write :)

this feels exactly like a secret, like some ancient text or part of an esteemed ritual that has been found and shared, I felt like I should have read it by candlelight in the dark, very well written.

Search for the Fifth element.......
I love old Alchemy manuscripts and that's what this reminds me of, it's as if you stumbled on an arcane note from a long lost age of Myth and Science as One instead of two. I wouldn't want to write my what I think it means because it needs to be free to let everyone put down what they want, what they see. Great write.

This was very entertaining. From the perspective of modern man the views of the universe and the ancient's understanding of science are amusing. They freely mixed fact and myth, magic and science. Of course, what would someone borne in the central jungles of South America think about television or computers? Magic! Your lucid poem prompts cogitation on such matters.
