Sadness

Slipping upon the wet pavement

On the way to an empty home

From what was a happy arrangement

That fell forward into an endless hole

Seeing the light of a beautiful engagement

Dimming as the night grows cold

Remembering how it made me feel famous

When she said, i love you, real slow

In moments where the world got complacent

And didn't mind stepping on these little toes

The sacrifices never got recognized

So nobody ever empathized
