Dreams

A Poem by JoséNEO
"

Some Dreams, are left unlived

"
I once dreamed about being famous
Being the shining star in a dark sky
Thinking this would make me courageous
That I’ll never live in an alley

They once dreamed about my future
One of a common man-working hard with his hands
They saw their dreams as a suture
Mine they saw as if they where badlands

Followed my dreams I did
Leaving those I loved for dreams
Trying to be like El Cid
Even if they end up in streams

I knew it was my destiny
Being the one to change this world
But could I do that with such an elegy?
That saddened this horrible underworld

Nobody left to truly love me
All left behind by yours truly
Left to swim alone at the sea
I can’t escape my cruelty

Now I dream about being a common man
Giving up on his dreams for the best
Instead of being consumed by his own Demons
Nothing left of the old man I was
Just the Demon that lays inside

Nice piece of writing, I like how it flips around to him dreaming about being a common man in the end. I feel like you could expand a bit more, did he manage to achieve his dreams but then with that came loneliness from those he left behind in order to reach his goals? What is the demon? His drive to achieve his dreams that in the end lead him to lonliness?
