Days like these

Days like these

A Poem by Joe Palmer

Days like these.

It’s days like these when Rome would Fall.

Days like this, I don’t care at all.

Life just lingers, but death, that calls...

But it’s easier just to groan.

It’s days like this that grate the soul.

I’d let cities burn and empires fall.

When time stagnates, and slows to a crawl.

It’s quicker just to moan.

It’s days like these that take their toll.

Life means little, I've forgot my goals.

And it’s only Monday! Just to top it all.

They say in death we all atone.

I agree with poem. Some days are hard. We are behind before we had begin. beautiful photo gave life to the amazing poetry. Last line is open for discussion. In death. The door is closed and what we did in life is history. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Ah yes, that dreadful Monday, it puts up brick walls to anything we wish to accomplish. The time just drags us along with it too, until the end. I enjoyed this, nice write.

Nice poem; one thought: what if in the line "I’d let cities burn and empires fall." you changed "fall" to "fold?" I think it might fit the rhyming scheme better, without changing the meaning, but what do you think? I like your poems; they've got a good pace.

Oh, I know what you mean! And too many of them in a row is cruel and unusual punishment!

An elegant and eloquent dirge for the Monday world. I'm retired, and I still hate Monday. We have all seen our share of these days, especially lately when the inmates are running amok and running the asylum. Well done.

Those days when everything is wrong and the weight of the world lies heavy on your shoulders. We all have them...but life goes on and better days will come. Wonderful poem.
