Failing Family

Failing Family

A Chapter by Joshua Randall

Failing Family

I need to write this down, now;
before I forget, bring forth these thoughts and recollects,
Need you to understand, that this,
Was never planned,
Only on my paper, I should reprehend.
What was there, and is not there;
anymore.

I understand that some folks; just crushed,
Flushed with the thought of, "Oh-My-God!"
Understand, maybe to you,
Through your eyes,
Me, not so hard.

To live under cars, bridges, alleyways, covered-newspaper,
To be beaten’ for saying,” I love you.”
For witnessing incestuousness, with my own eyes.
Lies, just to be called a liar.
Crazy you look at me, so diplomatic.
Now, spinning with some “supposed-beginning,”
I told a story, and you had it solved right?
You were involved, right?
…it’s still printing.

My story isn’t over, your story;
isn't...
Now, I understand that it’s shockin‘.
A mom, right? A mom, who’s done less rockin‘,
More-so stockin‘ her liquor cabinets.

To see that there was five, well, and me,
What else was there to be?
A good boy? I had to,
A good son? I tried to,
A good home? Too scared to.

Your diplomacy is becoming, very…
…well annoying, and you understand, right?
Because, who bought the news for reading,
Threw arms around it, pleading. Correct?
On a cold night, with their trailer creakin’ in the wind,
Readin’ themselves to sleep, on a pillow,
Made of funnies, fortunes, and sin.

I never knew it was that bad, until,
I had honestly, see somethin’ new.
Maybe my trailer wasn’t built, piled…
…with your stainless steel, textured-textile appeal.
But you learn to cope, live, with it’s valid ordeal.
Live not with a lot; but with-what you got.
See only what your told to see,
Poison thoughts, in simple-thought,
Is still broken with your, "diplomacy."

No love, no faith, or conduct of remorse,
For us, for fate.
Fate, is set of-course.
Into some future,
Into some winning Lotto ticket,
In some place.
Where I can’t follow.
Where I can't picket.

I think each family has their darkness, and this perfectly describes how that darkness shapes us as people.

.
secrets make families..you are moulded by the people around you, your ideals, principles, values..it's not until we stand alone and face the world as an individual, exhale, that everything comes crashing down or for some, holds firm..you can't choose the people who are you family but you can learn from them..however that manifests..
