For My Love

For My Love

A Chapter by Joshua Randall

For My Love

Snapshot, like a poem

Like a memory, I can’t distort it

Belief, like a tune

Like a preacher, I can’t ignore it,

Love, like escape

Like an obstacle, I can’t afford it

Like a gun, like a fire, jealous words,

I implore it

Won’t remind, wouldn’t define,

Who controls it

Couldn’t pretend, shouldn’t impair,

Who loads it

Whisper, like a secret,

Like a lie, I can sort it

Knife, like a weapon,

Like a crime, I award it

Strength, like a weakness,

Like a man, I look for it

Like a compliment, like his rudeness, silly heart,

I ignored it

Love, like a letter,

Like his face, I’ve deplored it
Mind, like a camera

Like its lens, he’s controlled it,

Broke, shattered mirror,

Like a song, I rewrote it,

Like a painting, like my body, with nobody,

I restored it

Veil, like a sheer

Like a wall, just to board it,

Pain, like a pinch

Like a fist, from my love, I remorse it,

Home, like a memory

Like this house, I retour it,

Like a recluse, then afraid, stupid boy

Once adored it

I enjoyed this poem. The flow and the story brought me in and you held me to the last word in the poem.
"Whisper, like a secret,
Like a lie, I can sort it"
So many strong statements in the poem. I like the way you ended this amazing poem.
