Hanging Tree

Hanging Tree

A Poem by Jqjohnson

Meet me down in the hallow
Standing is an ancient tree
Where evil runs free
Many men have been killed
Upon this old hanging tree
Spirits roam, let the devil be
Damned souls are kept
Unable to depart its realm
Bargains and pleas left in the elm
Hear my cry, let them go
Negotiations have fallen null
Whispers of life slither in its skull
Fables and curses intertwined
Moans flowing through the night
Moonful splendor, the only light
Sabres, arrows, bullets leave no mark
Immortal villain retire your reign
Quintessence of life, suffering pain
Erroneous promises captured the naive
Era of terror will remain
Impossible triumph, lasting stain
Forget this morbid land
Let it wither on its own
Tell all the people, let it be known
