Chapter 13
Aprophis stared at the dagger that lay on the table in front of him.
The Absineian Dagger, an ancient weapon, as deadly as it was beautiful. Red rubies set in the black onyx handle of the dagger. The blade of the weapon pulsed with life from the blood that it had absorbed from Radien’s human.
It was said to be the only dagger left of its kind. The last of the original seven daggers that Iraon had used to kill and slaughter…it was time to once again unleash destruction and chaos into the world.
Aprophis smiled evilly as he watched the blood travel through the blade. Iraon would be more than pleased with him.
With that in mind he flashed himself before the caged beast.
“I see you have it.” Iraon’s demonic voice traveled through the black mist that consumed the thalamus.
“Yesss. I have it.” The dagger hovered effortlessly above the palm of his hand.
Iraon appeared before him. His eyes glowed brightly as his gaze fixed on the dagger. It had been a long time since he had last seen his weapon. He had almost forgotten the deadly beauty of it.
He walked up to the pulsing bars of his prison. “You know what to do devil.”
Indeed he did know what to do…But as he stood on the outside of the cage Aprophis questioned what he was going to do. He had seen how the dagger had affected Radien, it had effortlessly drained him of his powers. He was certain if he hadn’t pulled the dagger when he did it would have killed the hound…Maybe he didn’t need the beast after all. With the dagger he was more than able to kill anything that stood in his path.
He stared at the dagger twisting it around with the tips of his fingers, never touching the handle. It was his means to kill that accursed hound. He could make the gods tremble before him. He would be king and all that power would be his to command.
Iraon stared at the low creature in front of him, listening to every though that played in its simple mind. Inwardly he laughed at the pathetic creature. Stupid thing thought it knew what the dagger could do. But only Iraon, its master, knew what it had ultimately been made for and he was growing more impatient with each passing moment.
“What’s the matter devil? Are you thinking about betraying me?” He taunted Aprophis while leveling a meaningful stare on him, his eyes flashing from red to black. “No, you’re not that stupid…are you?.”
“Is it wise for you to taunt the one who holds the key to your freedom?” Aprophis pulled the dagger away from the thalamus.
Iraon stared irritably at the creature. Yeah, he was through playing games with this simple creature. Without the slightest movement of his body, Iraon willed the dagger into the trinity prymaid that was the lock of the thalamus. An instant later the cage began to shake violently.
Yes. Iraon thought. He was free and he would deliver his vengeance…
Aprophis took a step back as he watched thalamus shake. The bars no longer pulsed. They had turned into stone. He could see the blood flowing from the lock through the cage.
He locked gazes with Iraon.
Just when he thought the place was going to tear apart the shaking stopped. There was an eerie quietness in the air. Then suddenly the bars of the thalamus shattered, pieces flying outward in Aprophis direction. He ducked the pieces of the shattered bars. A strong hand wrapped around his neck. His form instantly changed from human to devil. He gasped for air as the hold tightened and lifted him off his feet.
Aprophis eyes bulged. His serpents tongue hung from his mouth as his distorted body dangled in the air.
“Are you confused devil?” Iraon voice boomed in the darkness. His anger was boiling, and his powers growing. He could feel the anger and rage that lived in the creature he held and it was fuel for his powers as he held the hideous creature in a death grip. The poisonous slime that covered the devils body ran down his extended arm.
“Do you want to know why I can stand you disgusting slime…?” His fangs elongated as his power flowed through him. When he spoke his voice was coated in darkness. “Because I am evil incarnate. I am the ultimate darkness. I am absolute power.”
He removed his hand from the creature’s throat and mentally held him in the air. “You are nothing.” He spoke as he watched the devil hang like a limp rag doll. “Your powers are useless against me.” He removed his hold and watched as the creature landed on the ground in a massive disgusting heap. Turning his back to the creature Iraon walked over to where his dagger lay, glistening in the darkness. He bent down and pulled his weapon from what was left of the lock.
It glowed darkly from his touch.
Persephone gripped the post of her bed as the castles grounds quaked beneath her feet. Something was wrong. The dark sensation that spiked down her spine only reassured her feeling. Straightening herself she used her powers to find the source of the disturbance. Her search took her to the darkest part of the Underworld. A part of the Underworld she had visited once since she became queen and that one time had been by mistake. She never thought she would have to travel to this dark pit again.
In her astral form she walked up to the dark hole. She froze in her spot horrified. Her eyes wide, her heart spiked in her chest.
No…this couldn’t be happening.
Iraon was free.
That realization left her breathless and pale. She couldn’t believe it. She examined further. The bars that held the beast lay shattered at her feet. She stepped into the empty cage. Chills spread down her arms; she could still feel his dark power. There was no way the beast should have been able to get out.
She had to tell Hades. She pulled her projection from the cage and back into her body with a gasp. Once she regained control of herself she flashed herself to the throne room where she expected him to be….
“Hades” She said before she fully appeared in the room.
No answer.
She looked around but there was no trace of him.
With a hushed curse she focused her powers. She could feel him somewhere in the castle. She focused where she felt his presence the strongest. Instantly she took herself there.
“Had…” She stopped mid sentence at the sight before her. Her body froze as she watched her husband feverishly drive himself in and out of another woman. His face buried in the crook of her neck. “Hades.”
Slowly he turned his black gaze to her. She looked at him, his body tangled with another woman. His hair disheveled. His lips were swollen from what she knew was passionate kissing. His body was sweating with two lean shapely legs wrapped around his hips as he continued to thrust himself into her.
Persephone tried to ignore the moans she heard escaping the woman under him. She didn’t even seem to care that she had entered the room.
The fact that he would take another woman made her want to vomit. She shouldn’t even care after what she had done to him he had a right to take whomever he choose. But it still sucked all the life out of her to see his beautiful body on another woman.
The woman under him screamed at the point of her climax. And Persephone looked on mortified, but unable to look away as Hades body tensed and released his own climax. All the while his black gaze stayed focused on her. When he was done he used his powers to flash clothes onto the woman and himself.
“What?” His tone was flat and emotionless.
“We need to talk.” She forced the sentence out. Her throat had gone dry.
“It can wait…I need to shower.” He dismissed her with a wave of him hand.
“No Hades…It. Can’t. Wait.” She stressed the last of those words to emphasize her point. She cast a quick glance at the woman who had finally noticed her presence. Her cheeks flushing bright red, whether it was from embarrassment or pleasure Persephone didn’t know, nor did she care. “I’ll be in the throne room.” She vanished.
With a heavy sigh Hades reluctantly followed his wife into the throne room. He really didn’t feel like being bothered with her right now. But he could sense the urgency in her.
This had better be good. Hades thought as he appeared in front of his throne. He looked at her sitting in his chair. She looked like a regal queen instead of the cheap w***e that she really was.
“What is it female?” He saw the flare of rage flash in her eyes but she quickly covered it. He walked closer to his throne. He felt her hurt and pain, it tugged at his own. He steeled himself against his weakness before it broke him down. The fact that she had the nerve to feel hurt after what she did to him made him want to laugh in her face.
“Don’t you dare talk to me like some cheap w***e” She snapped at him. She stood from the throne.
A tic worked in his jaw. She was a damned w***e to him and deserved the same respect that she had given him.
Persephone stared at her husband for a moment as she tried to calm herself. Now was not the time to lose herself to her emotions. Once she was sure she had herself together and her voice wouldn’t crack and belie her hurt feelings she spoke. “Iraon is free.”
His body instantly tensed. She didn’t think his eyes could get any darker but the moment those words left her lips they did just that.
“What?”
“The beast is free Hades….While you were sleeping with some w***e the beast was set free…Some king you are.” She shouldn’t have said that because the next thing she knew he had his hand wrapped around her throat, cutting off her air supply. Her feet dangled in the air.
His grip on her continued to tighten and she felt her lungs beginning to shrivel up. She knew she couldn’t be killed but she was seriously thinking he might accomplish it if he squeezed any tighter. Just when she thought he might strangle her to death she felt his grip let go of her and she landed on the floor with a hard thud.
“How is that possible? That mutt of yours was supposed to make sure that didn’t happen.” Hades was pacing now, running his hands through his hair then over his face. His life had just gone up s***s creek and he didn’t have a paddle, turning from bad to worse.
What in the blue hell was he supposed to do now?
“Go to your mutt and tell him what has happened.” Hades ordered his wife before he flashed himself to his brother’s temple.
