Wasteland

Wasteland

A Poem by Judy Ponceby
"

For www.oneword.com...

"

Vast islands of floating debris
Following the ocean currents.
in the Northern Pacific Gyre.

Man made litter
Shaming our species.

Wasteland oasis
Covering hundreds of millions of acres
Of Ocean Blue.

Mother Earth
Polluted, Corrupted
with
a malignancy
needing
eradication.

When? When will we learn??

Wow. This a GRRRRRREAT poem Judy! :) It really brings attention to what so many people are oblivious of. The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is a MAJOR problem that needs to be put to an end. This is another great way to draw attention to it. Through the writings of a good writer such as yourself :)
Great job Judy! I really enjoyed reading this! It brought me back to a few months ago when my Bio class was covering this subject..very nice reminder :)

Doesn't it make you sick? I've spent considerable time floating on the ocean blue, pondering its mysteries, fearing its enormous power. How very, very sad to think of it clogged and polluted with mankind's rubbish.

I hope we learn before it's too late.. You'd think we would cherish our waters and the life within.. it makes me sad to see the death of marine life and the loss and beauty of our waters.. xx great write Judy..x

Thank you for your review!

I read this through a couple of times to really get the right feel on it. I love when important issues are tackled through poetry and especially when the author manages to hit on a way of doing it that doesn't hammer it over one's head but instead gently leads you along. My favourite lines were "shaming our species" and "a malignancy / needing / eradication".

Writing like this artful plea will help to eventually tip things in sanity's favor.
Thanks for caring, Judy.
