A Footprint in the Rain

A Footprint in the Rain

Words are weak and so in silence held

I lie still to hear his tender breath

rise above the whisper of the rain…

His kiss was as light as dawn’s first dew

that on calm mornings glistened ‘pon the buds

of flowers soft in bloom as lilies grew

tall against the wind,

                                                                in strength,

                                                                  ‘til rain

would find us but could never wash away

the guilt that hid in clouds above our bed

or the lust that still haunts my soul at night

even through the flood of useless tears

How I wish to rock him in an endless dream

to feel his lips gently kiss away

the fall of rain and yet he hangs his head

His footprint etched upon my grieving heart

such raw emotions and such tenderness. I'm always awed by poets like you, Julie, who manage tto convey an array of feelings with breathtaking expressions. to me, the last line is a killer.
the guilt here tells me the lady is in turmoil because of something she did (?)

lovely poem.

I always love your poetry Julie. You are amazing.
Wow Julie, what can I say? This is utterly divine, bittersweet but divine. No matter what you write - the topic - it is out of this world. Many will be able to relate, beautiful poem.

This is an amazing poem in remembrance of a lost lover's embodied essence. Great work, my gifted writing partner, a romantically nostalgic write & read. :)

A melancholy melody here, Julie...and you sing it so sweetly. So much love and longing packed into every line...your emotional pain is palpable. Lydi**

you're welcome;
When i read Julie's poetry I am faced with my own boundaries. Stuff comes to me I feel overtaken, breathing fire burning, exhausting amounts of out of control something. I am lucky when like a cowboy running around madly trying to calm down the ideas so I can make some sense. Then every so often I come to read Julie's writings and is as if she would sat down and look at nature and press the stop button. And because she is kind then nature obeys and stops. Rising above the shisper of the rain requires elegance, Flowers growing tall against the wind, Rocking the beloved one into and endless dream while that everlasting memory is engraved onto her heart.

A moment captured with love and respect.

Thankyou
