There is No Need to Water a Wilted Flower Garden

There is No Need to Water a Wilted Flower Garden

A Poem by MsJewel

There is no need to water a wilted flower garden…

The grass was so much greener when

the lilies stood tall against the roses

pink buds blooming on the vine

the scent of violets and lavender

wrapping me in a plume of a thousand beautiful things

Lush gardens and you

holding the heart of my heart

light as the breeze brushing my neck

kissing my cheek

with secrets of days to come

as my mind wandered among the butterflies

Who opened the venetian blinds

and let time in?

It wasn’t ours to fight against

And now, you are nothing but a haunting sunset

in the beauty of a vulnerable sky

while I’m left with the stars pulling my hair…

neurotic, destructive, fiery, dangerous, unrestrained

To hell, to hell with it…

There is no need to water a wilted flower garden

my god Julie, that was stark, raw and tears at the heart... the thing is too, there is such soft longing and love in the first part of the poem and then wham!! a haunting sunset... the stark reality of lost love... but it is exactly now when water is needed in this garden... I love your poetry Julie, even when it rips out my heart and stomps on it...

"There is No Need to Water a Wilted Flower Garden"
Msjewel,
How many experiences, plans, moments, seasons does a person reminisce with pleasure and pain together? This poem of yours is a study in a heart processing this mystery of life.
Great use of garden imagery as a garden and it plants-flowers-vegetables go through seasons of spring, summer and death-dormancy as do we.
This poem was fun to read and identify with.
Blessings,
Kathy

Once again you show pure emotions in this one where broken memory lay some wounds are so hard to heal if they ever do. You have a very beautiful way showing pure emotions you are feeling in this one. Another very touching one it show your poetic shills. :) Larry

Hi
This was an interesting combination of being whimsical and stark. Sometimes whimsy floats; hard to catch the specific emotion, but you made it clear here I think. Thanks.

Thank you for your kind words Matt :) Julie
Great imagery Julie, to show the contrast of feelings in a broken relationship. I could feel the sharp edge of your words as the thoughts changed to a dismal reality. Realistic and creative writing.
Hope you see an angel,

Your message started out with so much detailed beauty, I didn't think it related to your title so much. Then the pivot stanza with a mind-blowing analogy about Venetian blinds makes the turn into darkness that your title forebodes. I like the "garden" analogy thru-out & I like the intensity of the "pulling my hair" stanza. I'm not into such long titles, tho, so I would delete the first two words of it.

A poem of metaphorical brilliance.

Like your garden, the beauty of love can always fade over time, blossoms become weeds regardless of how much tending and watering is applied. To see love wilt can drive all of us to the brink of madness and despair, until we come to the realisation that all that was, can no longer be salvaged and it is best to let it wilt forevermore.

A fantastic piece of writing, Julie. Very well done!

Thanks so much my sweet friend :) Julie
We can not linger on the past loves that broke our heart or we will never find pieces of a new love that can make us whole again.

Your words are heartbreaking but captivating.
