Dublin

Dublin

A Poem by KT-B
"

an ode to a great place

"

"Dublin"

Dublin left it's mark on me

All the great places, I did see

Kilmaining Gaol, prisoner's trace

story of Jospeh Plunket and Grace

Who married in that dire hole

Joseph executed, God rest his soul

Many a great writer Dublin has seen

James Joyce, Bram Stoker, Brendan Bean

To name but a few, there's a whole lot more

I walked past Oscar Wilde's front door

It got the old creativity flowing

my interest in those fellows growing

Steeped in history, of battles fought

a place of learning, lessons taught

the people warm, friendly, a delight

The River Liffey, awesome sight

The great canal, O'Connell Street

A warmer race, you could not meet

I'd recommend Dublin, a great tourist spot

Dublin's fair city has got the lot

You won't be bored, trust me on that

and with the locals you'll get great chat

there's so many places of interest I missed

and that Cillian Murphy, still to be kissed

Love this piece KT.

I had the pleasure of a visit before Xmas and searched high and low for two statues - Thin Lizzy frontman Phil Lynott and Molly Malone. Didnt find the former but got a good rub of Molly's b***s for luck.

haha i never saw any of these myself, but glad u enjoyed yourself lol - :-))
it is obvious from this poem that you left a little piece of your heart in Dublin.....:) :) and you have captured how small the city really is and yet how vibrant a place is was and continues to be despite a turbulent recent history :)

ah certainly did Anne, can't wait to return - hope it's sometime soon :)
I traveled Europe for three years from 1977-1980. So many historic places. I agree with your thoughts. Dublin is a amazing place. I liked the story shared. I enjoyed standing in the old buildings and the castles. You still can feel the life in the walls. Thank you my friend for sharing the amazing poetry.
