Drinking Life

Drinking Life

A Poem by KWP

We search for place

to know the known

and understand each moment,

Yet in constant motion,

we blanket in

existence and self-atonement.

And what is life?

What’s worth the breath?

The inhale and exhalation?

Our liberty?

Our choice of road?

Our dreamy expectations?

To breach the bounds,

to climb a fence,

and build a ladder to the stars,

to rip and tear

and shred what’s there

understand the nears and fars.

Tickle ourselves,

with worldly mirth

and giggle ’til we pee.

Bathe in

everlasting waters.

Come now, come bathe with me.

Let’s love until

it hurts my friend,

not worry, connotations

Let love consume,

burst at the seams,

and drink our own libations.

Come sit here friend,

acknowledge all,

the gentle breeze will set us free,

no solid touch,

dimension feel,

no start or finish to you and me.

What’s worth the worth?

Where are you now?

Where you are supposed to be?

Relinquish all,

the sweetness yours,

you always had the key.

I noticed in the listing of new poems you had posted something about Trolls and Hackers. When I tried to read it, I got a message that I had blocked you....which I have not. Not sure what is going on, but glad I was able to read this poem. The lyrical poetry of Wordsworth never grows old. If only we could "build a ladder to the stars".....with words we almost do. This is so lovely. Lydi**

KWP,
"To rip and tear, to shred what's there." It just stuck out because so much of life experience; the good and not so and everything other simply has to be taken apart and examined or nothing is learned or gained. Drinking Life was beautiful and really fun to read. Kathy

Never read Wordsworth, coming to think on it, never read anybody but the poets on this site, how very, very lazy I am eh. Anyway, I've read this and enjoyed, bounced along with a nice flow and splendid rhyming. Well done that man !!!!

You must be joking, the rain is now cold and not freezing..the big yellow thing has done a runner
A scientist would propound that a rainbow is simply a meteorological phenomenon that is caused by reflection, refraction and dispersion of light in water droplets and as such does not actually exist. Wordsworth however would doubtless have responded that in reality it is God painting the sky for his children.

Therein lies the difference betwixt the poet and the pragmatist.

Wonderful poem that tells what really matters.

This is just lovely, and I love the ladder to the starts. I always tell my kids they are not made of flesh and blood but from star dust and that is like visiting the source. The magic is within and we hold the key. I will have a smile all day. Loved the " giggle till we pee" My kids are always looking out for a new pee line. I sometimes pick poems on here to share with them, yours will be one of them. Blessings and you came recommended to me by wordman. So I subscribed. :)
