Even The Wallflower Has A Purpose

Even The Wallflower Has A Purpose

A Poem by KWP

Anonymity
A way of life rolling toward the
Drainpipe of extinction

'Get off your soapbox!
In the big scheme of things,
None of it really matters.'

Humans -
Those who spend time
Trying on the fanciest,
Most expensively elaborate
Rather fancy to boot
Indentities.

'Take it off, take it all off -
I dare you!
Show me your naked
Unattached,
Unfettered,
Don't give a rats arse flying though the
Superficial ubiquitous
Of life self.'

Identity is grown,
Nurtured, cultured,
Blossomed to be the most
Unreal, real version of self.

'I want to meet the real you.
Who is not afraid,
Who is in tune and in touch
With the bubble that could burst
Any moment.'

Who is that person?
Does anyone bother to pause for breath and ask?
Surely we are all to busy attempting to BE the someone we are not.

'In a world of mimicry and falsehood,
We many never again trace ourselves back
To the original, unadulterated self.'

Lost in an unraveling eternity,
Hoping to be stitched back in time and place
- we scramble on.

A superb flow of your inevitable sense upturned, toe:head wonder, Mrs. KWP! Seems we are all chained to conformity these days, watching others watching us whilst - forgetting selves. The one who says, What the hell ?! - is pilloried or sectioned whilst the clever ones cheat their neighbours by wearing so many facades they're believed.. til the cracks begin to show.. and, it's too late. Or perhaps it never is that late. Perhaps we need a gentle revolution, taking us back to that Garden where we are said to have begun stark of pretence.

I like your way of thinking, of expresssing, of being utterly. human and real. You are, aren't you, E. !? :)

Oh I knew I was gonna like this! Such brutal honesty. "...we are all too busy attempting to be the someone we are not." Bam! A real in your face line right there!

Great word flow and the structure is very solid. I love this piece. Great job on a beautiful piece.

A very, very long time ago - Humans... trying out the best throwing spear and method of fire, conquered the wild and spread across geography and time to eventually listen to Elivs in our living rooms among other things.

I think some of these traits, in our current situation, might have become vestigial... like the appendix.

Vestigal trait's that last despite being counter productive or useless are precursors to extinction.

unfortunately political correctness forbids us to remove our clothes so behind the mask our legacy of nothing good continues....

Sometimes we hide who we really are so we wont disappoint other peoples view of us.I think stripped down and naked we are all the same.it's only what we choose to put on do we separate ourselves

I think this entire piece, represents a larger question, that you, and all of us even, are attempting to ask ourselves.

Very well done I do have to say. Wouldn't life just be awesome if everyone could just be who they really are. If I were to take it off and be who I really am, I wouldn't have many people that liked me, family included. hahah I think people like fake over real cause they never get their feelings hurt.

Really liked this poem! It flowed well and the style was awesome. Great Job.
