The Imagination of a Child

The Imagination of a Child

A Poem by Luna Northstar
"

I was thinking about how I have watched so many grow up, and lose their imaginations along the way. Each time I see it happen, I only hold mine closer...

"
I was there when you were young
I walked by your side
Laughed with you
Played with you
We loved to go outside
Thats where our dragons lived
And the pixies dwelled,
Don't you remember?
Each staircase was a water fall
Each bed, our ships
We traveled through space
Went back in time
Don't you remember?
Or maybe you remember the trees we climbed
And the knees we scraped?
The giants we chased
The pirates we battled?
But now your somewhere else
With boys, with makeup, talking the day away...
Don't you remember our adventures?
The magic and fun?
Don't you remember our summers
Playing in the sun?
But you've forgotten.
You have forgotten each adventure
Each pinky swear,
Each pixie and dragon...
I watched you leave your imagination behind
But seeing this, I only hold mine closer....

Woah. That's true. I remember how when I was little I used to make my bed a bus to the island of dinosaurs. There I would meet a dinosaur named...er....I forget. But the dinosaur was actually my dresser. I also remember checking out my closet to make sure it didn't lead to Narnia. Point is? This is really good Miharu, and I want to see more of your works. :)

This poem really hits home, because this is exactly what happened to me.. This poem is so sad, but I love the small ray of hope at the end. When we were little, we built fairy houses in our sandbox :) I love this.

This is good! And so true. When we grow up we tend to discard our imaginations as if they're something to be ashamed of. So much better to embrace them. Good work.

What a wondrous write, filling each line with treasured memories of a child's life. Your last phrase expresses that all too honest theme, that we tend to lose touch with our imagination as we ago. Thank you for the hope that we never have to let go!
