A Christmas Poem

A Christmas Poem

A Poem by Karen Redburn

Glittering Christmas star

Sparkling loves beacon

Blissfully reaching down

Toward savage garden

Filling empty vessels

Full overflowing smiles

Eyes all a twinkle

Channelling yuletide light,

Warm hugs cheer

Emptiness does disappear

Love sparking yule log

Padlocks broken ,coffers open

Extending generosity, hope

To a world thought forgotten

A giving spirit

Bridging chasms

Dividing the darkness

Drawing closer together

Islands reaching shore

Just for a moment

We remember to see each other

In this savage garden

This gives me a warm feeling, and that's what I feel it's about. Christmas makes you forget about anything wrong in the world and fills you with joy. This is something I want to read in pj's, with a cup of hot chocolate while sitting by a fire. Very successful message!

Beautiful, eloquent, uplifting words to soothe the “savage garden”. “ A giving spirit..Bridging chasms”- yes, so needed now. Last two lines are so wistful and wonderful. Brava!

Thank you, really appreciate your kind words.
love the contrast ..it is a savage garden isn't it...all around the jungle is danger ..and nature is not always such a pretty little sunset over the ocean ... i have come not to see those things as opposing ... just degrees of power expressed .. we humans can not take for granted that floods will not seek us, fires not ravage nor tigers and other beasts of violence will not threaten and maybe find us ... but at this Christmas time of year ..all the joys do take charge and predominate ..
Merry Christmas my new found friend ;)
