Dear Mrs C. Cake

Dear Mrs C. Cake

A Poem by Karen Redburn
"

Just a bit of creative fun. No offense intended to anyone who loves Christmas cake, does anyone love Christmas cake? Just a poke at my mom's most favourite of Christmas treats.

"

Dear Madam Cake, may I call you Christmas?

Come sit at the table we're playing candied marbles

The dough is browning in pots of sand

Food Cakes arrived, what an Angel

Floating on air, fine as feathers

Ding, ding stoppers ready

Angel be a dear, place it under the door

Keep the past open for Mrs. C. Cake

At this stove all are welcome to bake

My old mum used to make a Christmas cake when we were kids, starting in August ,icing in November, breaking the beaks of unfortunate birds in January. Bless the little feathered critters.

I'm thinking this might be about what we call fruitcake here. The candied fruit is what tipped me off. Your message is elusive, not sure if Mrs. C is welcome at this party or not. But this is definitely the most surprising & unusual fruitcake ditty I've ever read! *smile* Fondly, Margie
