The Christmas Baby Burped

The Christmas Baby Burped

A Poem by Karen Redburn

Christmas is magic, bright lights, and gifts,

Feasting and revelry in each household is

Wands of solid ice, twinkling starlight's

Smoke and mirrors, or so it does seem

With a wave of the wand an essence reveals

A divine trait is released on the earth

It quietly slips through consumers door

Loves innocent baby scent , inhale it afresh

No matter the taint, regardless the tear

It snuggles the heart spitting up on gluttony

Softly replacing bustling material hustling

Magically morphing into loves out pouring

Karen....Interesting poem,,you manage to combine the negatives of commercialism during the holidays with a message that we tend to think more is better and the positive message of new birth that is comforting to us emotionally and spirtually! Great Job

Thank you my friend, appreciate the kind review!
Eloquently and elegantly portrayed.
A most enjoyable, decidedly comforting seasonal offering.
Thanks, Karen, for lifting my typically flagging spirit!

I am happy you found it comforting. Thank you for the kind review.
Thank you for writing yet another poem full of originality. I'm not gung-ho on Christmas trappings, so I love seeing a poem that takes a fresh point of view. I so agree that having a new baby in the family or amongst friends really does make all the commerciality of the holidays seem like silliness. The appearance of a new Christmas season bundle of joy is always a sign of hope & new beginnings, which brings us back to the "reason for the season" . . . really love this meesage! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
