Christmas Wishes

Christmas Wishes

A Poem by Karen Redburn

If I could make one Christmas wish

I would ask for a new foreign friend

Someone who listens ignoring my swish

We would dance together and mend

When I dream of lilies let it be

About a world blooming with hope

In caring animation, we shall see

It's aid when we need to cope

Help us learn to change and grow

Make compassion tangibly real

Shoot our hearts with cupids bow

Prayers gentle tongue softly unseal

Tomorrow let us quest and find

A place to share empathy with other

Somewhere intelligently meld mind of mind

Where every color knows earth mother

In this wish a simple prayer

Humanity be more than a twinkling glare

A precious Christmas wish, and a much wanted gift for all humanity. You've captured the essence of goodness, decency, and respect so well in a few words. Your last line is particularly strong. I love the "more than a twinkling glare" phrase. Perfect. Thanks for sharing.

I totally agree! Humanity can and should be more empathetic to each other. Nicely written.

This should come true as quickly as possible.
With all the doom and gloom going around.
Humanity is surely needed in this world.

We need human contact and understanding. If we understood each other. Our world could be a better place. Thank you Karen for sharing the amazing poetry.

I pray everyday for peace and calm. You are welcome my friend.
I think it's a great Christmas wish. Reaching out to others has to be a good thing and something more should try. How sad that some folks think there little tribe or plot of ground is "the World" and those outside of it don't count. No, we're all brothers and sisters, created from the same stuff and by the same omnipotent hand.
