For When You Find Yourself At Your Lowest Point

For When You Find Yourself At Your Lowest Point

A Poem by Kate Napoli

When all the walls have crumbled

all the bridges burned

When there are no tears left to shed

and the vastness of your soul,

once fraught with worry

and indecision

and fear,

is empty and

N U M B.

When you have single handedly ruined

any chance of happiness for yourself

Pause.

Breathe.

Notice the flowers and weeds

that rise up

from beneath the cement of the sidewalks.

Notice how, despite everything,

they continue to live

and spread

color

and

beauty.

Pause.

Breathe.

Pick yourself up and wade into the water,

rebuild the bridges.

Get on your hands and knees;

rebuild the walls.

Continue.

Fight.

Feel the vastness within you fill up again with fire and joy.
