Teardrops

Teardrops

A Poem by Katho28
"

The teardrops came... and I remembered... and I wanted to forget. I didn't want pain anymore.

"
One by one, the teardrops came,
Big,
Plump
Drops of water.
Like ripe mangoes falling from the orchard tree.
Because nothing would ever be the same.
He'd stolen my silver key.
One by one, the teardrops slid,
Cold,
Wet
Drops of water.
Like that stormy orange day he ran from me.
And to think he was different, who did I kid?
He'd blinded what I could see.
One by one, the teardrops fell,
Angry,
Harsh
Drops of water.
Like that moment happiness and pain crossed paths.
My stomach was as hollow as a well.
He'd cut my heart into halves.
One by one, the teardrops touched,
Soft,
Gentle
Drops of water.
Like when I realised none of this mattered.
Onto my heart, I tightly clutched.
I'm not going to be battered.
One by one, the teardrops stopped,
Then,
Silence,
No more drops of water.
Like the warmth of mangoes as they rested there...
Across the green and orange, I hopped.
Without a single care.

I found this piece to be very beautifully written. I especially liked the imagery and vast array of emotions portrayed by the teardrops. This piece offers happiness and hope with the realization that no matter how much pain exists as long as you hold on to hope you'll be free.

There's so much I love about this poem. The rhythm, the subtle rhyme, the transition from sorrow to redemption, the imagery... This is fantastic and beautifully written. :)

Great job (: I've been through a relationship recently and that totally spoke to me. Your piece caught me off guard when I noticed it rhymed haha. It had such a deep meaning but also it rhymed, the perfect poem (: I loved how it gradually changed throughout the poem and ended with hope. Simply beautiful (:

I like this piece, the emotion is well represented and the imagery you use is nice. The different descriptions of your tears are well written. I like how it starts off as a heart break but at the end she is released from the pain and finds happiness and freedom again, unchained from her painful emotions.
