The Color of Words

The Color of Words

A Poem by Katie Marie

A poem is a unique art,
painted not with the colors of the rainbow,
but with the color of words.
A poet, like an artist,
chooses his or her colors carefully,
as to not mix the wrong ones and ruin the image.
If a poet were to write,
'His eyes are dark blue.'
it would not create the correct effect.
The sentence needs some shading to blend the colors well.
If a poet were to write,
'His eyes glimmer with the color of the dark ocean depths.'
it would add much, much more,
to the writer's artwork.
A poet can take words,
and, without being there in person,
paint a flawless picture into the mind of the reader.

Thank you! :)
oh yes, poetic license is so wonderful, but...point taken, to paint with words is an art form which, when paired with words being music, becomes a work of lovingly crafted personal essence... very nice piece

Words have create fear and changed the world. Martin Luther King is a example of a man who used words to change a world. A writer who can speak his words with strength and beauty. Can steal the thoughts and pain away. No weakness in this amazing poem. Thank you.
