Broken Windows

Broken Windows

Thinking of you eyes
Of the windows to your soul
Try to clear my mind with alcohol.
Although it numbed the pain
Deep inside myself I knew
I'd never be the same without you.
So I close my eyes
And imagine what I'd say
If I had some way of seeing you.
They say your eyes
Are the windows to your soul
But all I see is broken glass.
So open your eyes for me
One more time, I need to see
If your heart still beats for me
And then I will let you be.
You keep the windows locked
And I can't get in the door.
Stuck outside in pouring rain.
The weeping skies
Tell you all you need to know.
I'm out I tears, not out of pain.
So I'll leave my heart
On the black and white keys.
Not sure when I'll see it again.
And I'll climb inside
Through your broken windows
And tear my veins on shattered glass.
So open your eyes for me
One more time, I need to see
If your heart still beats for me
And then I will let you be.
I'm sorry, I can't believe
That you never cared for me.
I'm holding my heart that bleeds
So open your eyes now please.
I wore my heart...
Upon my sleeve...
And through it now...
My warm blood seeps...
Broken windows
On an empty house.

This was really good. I could feel the pain and loss you were conveying to the reader.

Thank you for reading and for the good review :)
Thinking of you eyes...thinking of your eyes? flows better into next sentence...
very raw emotion is felt through your poem and it speaks to so many that have been through the pain of loss of love. well done.
